In 2011, Aquaman Design has completed three websites for sports clubs or fitness clubs.  We are already talking to other organisations and hope to be developing a number of other sites in 2012.

Matlock Atheletic Club approached Aquaman Design after seeing our site for Results Fitness and Swimming.  Matlock Athletic Club already had a site, but was very much in need of a facelift.

Unlike the Results Fitness and Swimming site, the Matlock AC site is a bespoke design. During the design process of a bespoke website, Aquaman Design will create 3-4 Photoshop mock ups and then allow the customer to pick the design they like.  In many cases ideas from different mock-ups may be combined to make one final design.

Once the design has been approved and the content for the site has been gathered - in this case most of it already existed on the previous site - the site build can begin. As Matlock AC already had a site it was important to build the site on a testing server first so that there was no break in service to the public.  When the work had been approved we were able to replace the old site with the new site.

Bowls Club Website

Bexley Park Bowls Club Website

This site has been built for Bexley Park Bowling Club using a bespoke template designed and coded from scratch.  The idea was to keep the interface as simple as possible.

The front page has been set out to allow users to find the information they need as quickly and as easliy as possible.

Other features include access to a Google Map for directions and a slideshow on the front page.

The badge was designed by Aquaman Design specifically for the site.

The site was commissioned in the late summer of 2011 and completed mid November 2011.

Big Society Small Business

Big Society Small Business, online virtual conference

A website for a small business, which in turn aims to help other small businesses through the economic crisis.  The client wanted the site to help manage an online virtual conference.

This Derbyshire based company asked for a single page business website in the style of an existing Wordpress Site.

So a mockup was created and the build went ahead.

There are a number of unique things about the Big Society Small Business website.

Because originally a single page website was asked for we created a static navigation bar at the top of the page, therefore as users scroll down they would always be able to find there way around on the single page.

Also we were asked to add a sign up widget for the client's existing bulk emailing provider - Aweber. The client was able to give us access to the Aweber account and we were able to sort this out on their behalf.

The other unique thing about this site is that once users have signed up to the virtual conference they will be able to return to the site, login and gain access to content only available to registered users.  This content is mainly audio files, which the client wanted to be able to control the days on which this content is published and further to this, also unpublished.

Setting content to be viewed by registered members only and also publishing and unpublishing content is achieved through the Joomla Content Management System.  Information can be controlled down to the exact minute it becomes available or unavailable to users.  This is a great feature if you want to publish special offers or want to keep the information on your site fresh. Its also great for search engine optimisation (SEO) as search engines will visit your site more often if you regularly add new content.

Self Catering Accommodation website

This was a website for holiday accommodation, a self catering apartment in Chesterfield.

The client opted for a bespoke design. Our bespoke package includes the setting up of 15 pages and 15 images.

The idea of the Daisy was to give the site a feeling of freshness and remind viewers of sunny days.  This will inspire visitors to the site to take a break, to take a holiday and to chill out and relax.

Aquaman Design has now completed several websites for bed and breakfasts and self catering holiday accommodation.

Results, Fitness and Swimming

Results, Fitness and Swimming - for fitness coaching and swimming in Derbyshire

This client wanted to promote his business on the web but needed to keep the cost low.

Aquaman Design offered our "off the shelf" templates as a solution.  The client chose the template in about 10 minutes.  From then on it was a simple matter of gathering the text and images for the site.

Within a couple of weeks the site was up and running and generating phone calls.

The whole site cost £300.

Yew Tree Cottage - Luxury B&B Matlock

Site launched in July 2011.

The design was based on the clients existing website design. The task was to come up with a similar looking site but fit for the modern internet.

A lot of time was put into making this site just right.  It features a number of minature slideshows on the frontpage and on the room pages in particular.

Due to the original sites being in existence for a number of years the site and the clients dedication to generating back links to the site, the site performs well in search engine searches.

London Carpentry

This is our first site for a company trading in the megatropolis we call London City.

Although dealing mainly in carpentry and joinery the client felt it was important to show that they offer many other services as well.

The information architecture took a little while to develop to ensure users can clearly find what they are looking for.

Creating such a big site allows plenty of opportunity to optimise the pages and add lots of search engine friendly content. At the time of writing the client was still putting finishing touches to the text, but were keen to have the site up online to start generating business.

So title tags and description tags were added to the site.  A search enging friendly sitemap also created, and then the site was re-registered with Google.  Within 24 hours the site was ranking 3rd for the search term "London Carpenter".

Matlock Solar Ltd

Matlock Solar Ltd, solar panels in Derbyshire.

The client needed a logo and a site quickly to support his solar panel business.  The initial home page was up online within a couple of hours.

Several months later, after the initial installation the client returned to ask Aquaman Design to create the rest of the pages.

Aquaman Design added the sliding image in the header, added the logos for the different Solar Panel manufacturers and finally Aquaman Design was able to optimise using the page title, and page description tags.

This site cost around £350 in total hosting.  Aquaman Design is now offering hosting services for £35/year.
