Big Society Small Business Website

Big Society Small Business, online virtual conference

A website for a small business, which in turn aims to help other small businesses through the economic crisis.  The client wanted the site to help manage an online virtual conference.

This Derbyshire based company asked for a single page business website in the style of an existing Wordpress Site.

So a mockup was created and the build went ahead.

There are a number of unique things about the Big Society Small Business website.

Because originally a single page website was asked for we created a static navigation bar at the top of the page, therefore as users scroll down they would always be able to find there way around on the single page.

Also we were asked to add a sign up widget for the client's existing bulk emailing provider - Aweber. The client was able to give us access to the Aweber account and we were able to sort this out on their behalf.

The other unique thing about this site is that once users have signed up to the virtual conference they will be able to return to the site, login and gain access to content only available to registered users.  This content is mainly audio files, which the client wanted to be able to control the days on which this content is published and further to this, also unpublished.

Setting content to be viewed by registered members only and also publishing and unpublishing content is achieved through the Joomla Content Management System.  Information can be controlled down to the exact minute it becomes available or unavailable to users.  This is a great feature if you want to publish special offers or want to keep the information on your site fresh. Its also great for search engine optimisation (SEO) as search engines will visit your site more often if you regularly add new content.
