Remote Zip file Unpack
If you've ever had trouble uploading the Joomla install zip package to a server - then I found this really easy solution.
The problem is usually caused by the Joomla install package being larger than the maximum size of file you can upload to the host.
Here's the solution. Note this is the Joomla Zip package we are talking about.
So, using your favourite ftp software upload your Joomla install Zip package to your website's root folder on your host server.
Then you need to create a php file with the following code:
<?php system('unzip full_name_of_file.zip'); ?>
Replace "full_name_of_file.zip with the name of your joomla zip file, eg "Joomla_1.5.23-Stable-Full_Package.zip"
That's all you need in the code by the way, just one line.
Save the php file and upload to your root folder.
Then type the url of the php file into your browser, ie "www.yourdomian.com/full_name_of_file.zip".
What will happen is your browser will show loads of text and code, but if you now look at the file list in your remote folder you will see the zip file has been unpacked. You can no go ahead with your Joomla install.
This method will work for other zip files you wish to unpack as well.

After recommendation, and viewing some of his work , i asked Aquaman Design if he would work for me and produce a website for my Sports Coaching business. It was a pleasure do do business with him, he very quickly realised what it was that i needed and consistantly reviewed my needs throughout the whole process of creating the website, offering me advice and alternatives the whole way. |
